Measuring Growth in Writing Using Rubrics (Gr K-3) (6 hrs)

(6 Hours) Participants in this course will learn what typical writing looks like for kindergarten through third grade students, as well as some common writing tasks they can be expected to accomplish.  This course will also cover the purpose of both holistic and analytic rubrics, and when each type is appropriate to use for assessment of student writing.  Participants will also learn how to develop their own rubrics to use to monitor the progress of their students’ writing skills.

How can educators assess the progress of their primary students’ writing skills using rubrics?
