Strategies to Support Social-Emotional Learning (8 Hours)
(8 Hours) This course will provide you with a detailed overview of social-emotional learning (SEL) and the value of incorporating SEL into the classroom to help improve academic success and emotional intelligence. We will provide detailed strategies, examples, and provide numerous tools to help you implement SEL into any classroom regardless of subject-area or grade-level.
What strategies can I implement to encourage the social-emotional growth of my students?
- The meaning of “educating the whole child” or “teaching to the whole learner” and how Social Emotional Learning (SEL) can accomplish these goals
- The importance of SEL in academic success and emotional intelligence and how to specifically implement SEL into any classroom regardless of grade-level or subject area
- Student self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision- making skills are important for a student’s emotional well-being and success
- It is equally important for students to have social awareness and relationship skills as they learn how to function successfully in society
I am a current teacher who decided to look into SEL to address some of the behavior issues I routinely see in my middle school classroom. This course was exactly what I needed! Very well organized and clearly presented. I feel like I am now ready to plan, organize, and incorporate SEL into my own classroom. Also, the resources provided were very helpful!
At the conclusion of the course, you will receive a certificate for 8 Professional Development hours. Model Teaching is an approved provider of professional development in many states. Visit our State Requirements page for more information on your specific certificate requirements.
